New Treatment for Lymphedema Including Acupuncture

  • I have a success story to share regarding my treatments program for secondary lymphedema brought on by an infection. I started over two years ago with the MLD and compression wraps with a therapist. I then began my own work with exercises, hot and cold water and then started acupunture. I am happy to say that my affected leg is now almost identical as my other one and the foot and ankle are getting closer with every acupuncture treatment. I have before pictures and will be taking some after ones in a couple of weeks. I have been talking through the mechanism for healing that the acupunture is taking me through and it is making sense to both doctors that I have seen. There is now a clinical trial for acupuncture starting at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for people who have lymphedema in an arm. I want to share my work.

Sandy Munnell I have been repeatedly warned against acupuncture. I would be very interested in know more about the clinical trial in New York. Is there anything online about it?

Michele Nealon What a relief that would be not to have to wear compression stockings! I've tried thigh highs and the ones with the waist attachment and neither stays in place. It is a constant battle to keep them up. Then there is the Reid Sleeve at night - I hate that...  more
