Lotion Commotion

You know you're getting old when you ask for lotion for Christmas.  In earlier years my Christmas wish list included handbags, jewelry and clothes.  Now those items have changed to vacuums, lotion and Spa days.  Who am I kidding, I still want the handbags, jewelry & clothes as well.  Also in earlier years when my husband would come home with flowers my heart would skip a beat.  Now I have that same reactions when he does the dishes, makes dinner or wakes up with our kids.

So yes, this Christmas when my Mom asked what I wanted I knew exactly what to say, Kiehl's Creme de Corps.  My skin has always been on the drier side, when winter starts it becomes increasingly worse.  This lotion is in a category of it's own, it has an almost velvet like feel on my skin and hydrates like no other.  Great for my lymphie limb Bertha!  The greatest part is I never feel that greasy or sticky feeling which makes it impossible to put on your compression stocking (I only break a little sweat, ha ha.)  My skins absorbs it so well it never has that sitting on top of my skin feel.

It comes in an array of sizes, so I have a huge home pump lotion and a purse lotion.  You can find it at numersous places, I usually purchase it from  Kiehls.com or Nordstrom.  While we're on the subject of skin care Kheil's also has my favorite lip balm.  Again I have a home, car and purse Kiehl's #1 Lip Balm.

It takes quite a bit of lotion to keep Bertha hydrated.  What are your favorite lotions to hydrate your lymphie limb?

    I appreciate your reviews:) I just found out I have lymphedema, on top of having psoriasis, so it's a whole new world of discovering what works and doesn't work. Plus, not feeling alone... thank you!

I guess it's time to introduce Bertha, my previous post might make a little more sense.  Some women name their boobs, I name my legs.  My skinny "normal" leg is Tiffany who I imagine would be a cheerleader and a runner.  And then there is my lymphedema leg Bertha, who bakes likes science.  Ok I know that is so stereotypical, but it's makes me laugh and makes other people feel awkward.  I mean they named a golf club "Big Bertha" so really I'm just following suit.  Bertha has been with me since 2007 and isn't going away anytime soon, so it was only proper she be named.  We have a love hate relationship, but in the end she is a big part of my life and according to my husband "his favorite leg in the world."  Yes you can "awwww" now.  And yes I hit the jackpot with him.  XOXO-Allie

Summer Sandals- Save and Splurge

Summer can be dreaded for Lymphies, the heat on our limbs can cause them to swell even more.  Add to that bearing our compression in swimsuits and sandals, it can be emotionally difficult as well.  I hope my post will alleviate some of the concern.  I've collected some summer sandals that will fit your lymphie leg (all the sandals listed come in wide widths or will most likely fit people with LE) For each style I've included a "Save" option and "Splurge."  With shoes I like to purchase some fun trends and not spend a lot, but then there are some shoes I know will last and I will get a lot of use from, I am willing to spend a little more on these.  You may think "Allie it's only March, summer is months away!?"  I've noticed that a lot of the seasonal items are out of stock by the time it's the actual season to shop for, so I have learned to grab an item if I really love it, because chances are it will be gone next time I shop.  I hope yo
