He is stage 3 with elephantiasis of the distal LE and little change to the thigh with exception of edema. Have been treating x 2 weeks with good resolution of the distal limb, but little if any change to the thigh. He is compliant and has been consistent with the bandaging. Some shifting of the bandaging "South" does occur between treatments, but not enough that there shouldn't be some improvement in the thigh. Any thoughts? What am I missing? less

I just think you need to be patient and know that a stage 3 lymphedema will take more than 2 weeks to show improvement. It is a good sign that the calf is softening, but the thigh may be a little more stubborn as this is where all of the distal fluid is traveling through. Good truncal MLD is key here and frequently (4-5x/week). Keep with it and good luck!
Recently saw a patient for a consultation regarding prevention of developing lymphedema. She is 2 weeks s/p bilateral mastectomy. What is her best option for having blood drawn in the future?
