    cathie Galford-holbrook → Lymphedema Community Staff: I have primary lymph edema.  It began with my left foot at 12 (I was diagnosed at 14).   I tried treatment a few years ago but could not stand the wrappings and bandages.  They are so uncomfortable and hot plus you take them off for a couple hours...  moreI have primary lymph edema.  It began with my left foot at 12 (I was diagnosed at 14).   I tried treatment a few years ago but could not stand the wrappings and bandages.  They are so uncomfortable and hot plus you take them off for a couple hours and the swelling just comes back again.    My question: is there any research  I could volunteer for or are we just stuck with compression for now?     Do you know if acupuncture would help?

IN order to really get the swelling under control you need to commit to a strict program of almost daily treatment, including bandaging, until you have reduced enough to be measured for compression garments that you can wear throughout the day.
