I was very active before all this happened to me and I own a business and went through breast cancer treatment surgery and chemo as well. I will say it definitly wasnt always easy and still cry about it on days. I still dont feel the same as I used to before all this happened to me but the lymphedma is really got me down. I am managing by dojng my PT exericises and manual drainage and wraping myself every night rather than the night sleeve which i didnt fint as effective. Exercise (walking for now and the PT exerises everyday are helping the most along with dry rubbing. I also get Lymphedma it in my arm, hand neck and shoulders and face at times. I keep hoping my body will adjust and I will have this problem as much as time goes on but I have heard many times this is not true but I am going to keep hoping and tyring to belive it can be. I agreewith Susan though I also couldnt just sit at home I would go crazy to.  less

Darcy D. When I was on SSDI, I was still able to work part-time which worked well. It was a great balance of working and still managing my Lymphedema. It was a great balance of working and still managing my Lymphedema. Working full-time has been hard on my arm for sure. I see a new PT person in a couple of weeks to see if they can help before I make the decision to return to part-time work.

Everyone is differnt and has differnt needs. I hope your PT helps you out. I didnt think so at frist but it has been the most helpful as far as learning the exericises and managing it on your own. I cant say enough about how its helped me. Please hang in there.

Deleted Member I only work half days - 6:30am to 6:30pm. :p My arm would definitely be easier to manage if my hours were shorter!

I'm becoming discouraged and am considering returning to SSDI because of my health.   less

Deleted Member I don't know if I can be very helpful. I developed LE after an AND for breast cancer. I worked through chemo and radiation and I am working through LE as well. Maybe my arm would be better if I didn't, but I would probably lose my mind sitting at home.
