Ady Arya Hi everyone ! I have a question related to flying for those with lymphedema.
If all precautions are taken the same way, which seems the most optimal way to fly ?

Hi everyone ! I have a question related to flying for those with lymphedema.
If all precautions are taken the same way, which seems the most optimal way to fly ?

A-one 8hr hour long flight on Airbus A350 (max cabin pressure at 6000 ft altitude)
B-three shorter flights on Boeing 787 (2hrs, 4hrs and 6hrs respectively) with 1 day rest between flights (max cabin pressure at 6000 ft altitude)
C-two shorter flights 3.5hrs on 777/ AirbusA380 (max cabin pressure at 8000 ft altitude) and 6hrs on Airbus 350/Boeing 787 (max cabin pressure at 6000 ft altitude)

One choice may be better than the other as far as triggering/worsening lymphedema is concerned. We want to avoid choosing incorrectly. So wanted to ask the community here as well.   less

Unfortunately, there are a lot of conflicting journal articles on the effect of air travel and low cabin pressure on lymphedema. You will probably not be able to find a study that compares the relative merits of different equipment when it comes to lymphedema. All I know from my personal experience with my own lower extremity lymphedema is that the shorter the flight and the closer the cabin pressure is to sea level, the better. Compression garments help, but are not perfect. The effects of air travel may linger for days after your arrival at your destination, and then you have to face going back home and going through the whole thing again. I'm trying to set up a massage...    less
